Maik Klasen, PHD
Managing Director
Maik is one of the founding Managing Directors of Adivo Associates and board member of two Silicon Valley and California based Biotech companies. Maik started his career as an Immunologists and Geneticist at UCSF before entering the Biotech start up world with Sagres Discovery (sold to Chiron/Novartis), MGP Biotechnologies, and Crystal Bioscience (sold to Ligand Pharmaceuticals). Maik follows a dual path as an entrepreneur and strategy consultant to large and smallBiopharmaceutical companies which constantly exposes him to new technologies and the impact those might have on transforming standards of care. Prior to
founding Adivo, Maik was responsible for Frost & Sullivan’s Global Healthcare and Life Science Consulting operations and for the coordination of global consulting engagements with the top 500 pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, IVD/MDx and Healthcare IT companies on corporate strategy. Additionally, Maik continues to serve on the board of directors for two large Pharma companies. Maik’s entrepreneurial approach and his ability to analyze
both business and scientific issues allow him to converse with a broad range of audiences on many levels which is highly valued by his peers. Maik holds a magna cum laude Ph.D. in Immunogenetics in collaboration with the University of
California, San Francisco and the Ludwig-Maximillians University in Munich, and a summa cum laude Masters in Molecular Biology from the University of Hannover in
Germany.
Jerry O’Sullivan
Jerry O’Sullivan is Head of Adivo Associates European operations, based in Paris. Prior to joining Adivo Associates, Jerry was Director of Healthcare Consulting for Europe with Frost & Sullivan. He also served as Director of Frost & Sullivan’s Consulting business in France, working across industry sectors.
Jerry has twenty years of consulting and business development experience working with leading Healthcare organizations on international projects. Jerry has worked on over 80 significant consulting projects addressing both strategic and operational Healthcare business issues. Particular experience was gained in strategic opportunity assessments, diversification, commercial due diligence, new product development and launch strategies, as well as competitive and customer strategies.
Sector coverage slices across the Healthcare industry including Medical Technologies, Pharma & Biotech, Clinical Diagnostics and Medical Technologies, in Primary, Secondary and Homecare settings. This affords Jerry a 360 view of the industry, which has proven particularly valuable as clients seek to apply best practices in how they address business issues as the Healthcare market evolves.
Jerry holds a 1st-Class Hons. BA and MA from University College Cork, Ireland.
Ryan Goulding
Ryan is co-founding member of Adivo. Previously Ryan was Vice President of Consulting at Frost & Sullivan where he established the consulting group practice within healthcare in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and directed its expansion and growth for over 13 years.
Ryan has expertise in a wide array of market research and strategic consulting methods, in addition to industry-recognized content expertise across certain medical device and biopharmaceutical areas. He has been focused on market tracking and strategic planning needs, market landscape and opportunity analyses, as well as product launch and brand-management planning.
Within the hemophilia and Ig markets, he originated the methods and success of various market tracking projects, including studies on US, European and developing countries for FVIII, FIX, bypass agents, Immunoglobulin and Albumin. Ryan has directed the essentials of numerous tracking and strategic studies in hemophilia—setting forth and hitting quality improvement goals, steering efforts to calibrate the markets for past demand shifts, and leading the analysis and presentation of results for the European countries.
